The Mediation Process
Before the mediation, the mediator typically meets with each party individually to discuss the process, prepare for the session, and explain the mediator's role. The mediation takes place in a neutral venue that accommodates the needs of all parties. At the start of the mediation, the mediator outlines the process and key principles of mediation. Each party is then invited to share their perspective on the issues at hand. The mediator facilitates discussions, helping the parties identify and explore the most significant points of disagreement. Together, the mediator and the parties may establish an agenda to guide the conversation. During the mediation, the parties engage in a deeper discussion of the key issues, work to clarify misunderstandings, and begin identifying potential solutions that address everyone's needs. If necessary, the mediator may hold private, confidential meetings with each party to explore unresolved matters, discuss options, and consider alternatives. Information shared in these private sessions remains confidential (within legal limits) unless the party clearly allows the mediator to disclose it. The mediator helps the parties generate practical options that meet their needs as effectively as possible. Once an agreement is reached, the terms are typically drafted into a document during the mediation session.

With over 30 years of experience in mediation and conflict resolution, we bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding to every case. Our services span a variety of areas, including industrial relations, neighbourhood, community, and family mediation. As a Nationally Accredited Mediator and Counsellor, Megan is accredited by National Mediation Accreditation System (NMAS) and is a proud member of both the Resolution Institute and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). With 25 years of leadership experience in state and regional management for international companies, Megan has a strong background in human resources and workplace relations. Additionally, Megan has owned a successful retail consultancy business, further showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence. Currently, Megan is a member of the Northern Beaches Chamber of Commerce and holds a board position at Radio Northern Beaches, contributing to local governance and media.
